CAPTCHA #1 (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) is a piece in which four performers frenetically execute a work synchronized with LED lights and video. The central idea is to confront the human and the NPC, “human” music and computer-generated music. Are the performers we see on stage machines/NPCs, or sentient and free individuals?
